Texarkana  will  soon  realize  its  dream  of  a  convention  center  and  luxury  hotel.    Excitement
continues to build as another crucial milestone is reached with the selection of the Design/Build
firm for the Texarkana Convention Center and adjacent Hilton Garden Inn.  In a joint statement,
Texarkana,  Texas  CEO/City  Manager  Dr.  Larry  Sullivan  and  local  Texarkana  investors  D
Hospitality,  LLC  Principal  Jack  Daugherty  announced  Friday  that  Weis  Builders,  LLC  of  Dallas,
Texas  has  been  chosen  as  the  Design/Build  Team  Leader  for  the  joint  project.    The  City  of
Texarkana,  Texas  will  own  the  convention  center  and  D  Hospitality  will  own  the  hotel  and
manage both the hotel and convention center.

“Entering the Design/Build phase of this project is the culmination of a long‐term vision of the
Council  and  the  Texarkana  community  coupled  with  a  brilliant  financing  mechanism  through
hotel  occupancy  tax  dollars,”  commented  Mayor  Steve  Mayo.    “Developing  the  Texarkana
Convention  Center,  paired  with  the  luxury  Hilton  Garden  Inn,  with  NO  financial  burden  to  our
citizens is an accomplishment in which we can all take great pride.”
